## Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Accounts & Family Safety
## Turn User Account Control Off

Assign Specific Drive Letter to HDD

## Start > Rclick on Computer > Manage Devices

ATI Mobility Modder

Sometimes Laptop manufacturers want full control over their users experience, and will force the use of their own drivers (and disable the card manufacturer's drivers). This sucks a lot, and if your laptop manufacturer doesn't release new drivers with new operating systems, then you're forced to use an older version of the operating system.

## Download MSXML 6.0 from Microsoft. (Default in Vista) - Install.

### Step 2 is VISTA ONLY

## Make sure UAC control in Vista is turned off. If you don't know how to do this then read this guide (method 4 is the easiest) 
## or click the "disable UAC" in Mobility Modder.net - please note you MUST reboot after disabling UAC. If you ## don't want it 
## disabled permanently, you can turn it back on after our mobility tool has finished, but it won't mod the drivers correctly with UAC ON.

## Download the newest desktop drivers from www.ati.com (or get them from Driver Heaven Downloads). If you are using Windows XP 
## make sure to download .net framework from Microsoft (this is built into Windows Vista so there is no need to install it).

## Run the downloaded driver, let it extract into c:/ATI/SUPPORT - but cancel the installation once the driver is extracted.

## Run Mobility Modder - browse to the driver in C:ATI/SUPPORT/ - an example of Catalyst 7.4 would be C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-4_vista32_dd_ccc_enu_44985 
## - hit modify. Wait until driver is modified.

## In Vista, go to C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-4_vista32_dd_ccc_enu_44985 (Or whatever the driver installation folder was called), and run the SETUP.EXE. 
## Please note you might see a "Driver is not WHQL certified", ignore this, as it is a side effect of the modification.

## Wait until Install is finished and reboot. Enjoy the new drivers!

Programs

Maya

Maya will not run unless your IP address is the same as when you first typed it in for the FLEXLM fix. When you have no internet, or use maya with a different internet conection, your ISP gives you a different IP address. Using VM ware gives you a ip address that you can use which stays the same no matter what. This will prevent you from having to go through the FLEXLM ordeal multiple times.

Install VMware:

• Install VMware
• When VMware asks you to enter a serial number, click /skip/

Install Maya <=2008:

1. Create a Directory on C: called "FLEXLM", and drag into the directory.
2. START> Autodesk> Maya 2008> Common Utilities> FLEXLM license utilites
   1. On the system settings tab, choose the second tab and copy your /Ethernet Address/
3. Open the file aw.dat in notepad, and replace the words "your host" with the first line of numbers before a space from the ethernet address you pulled from the FLEXLM license utilities.
   1. Make sure that you have quotation marks surrounding your ethernet address
4. In the Run prompt type in: C:\FLEXLM\awkeygen.exe aw.dat
5. START> Program Files> Autodesk> Autodesk Maya 2008> Licensing
   1. Click install from file, and select the file /C:/FLEXLM/aw.dat/ that you just modified
6. Done!

Install Maya 2009 Follow the same Steps as above EXCEPT!!!

• do not use quotation marks around your host ID, and use no spaces between the ethernet address and the = sign.

Tips and Troubleshooting

• If you are using VMWare, sometimes the first ethernet address does not work. Start with the first, but then try the second, third, fourth etc.
  • /each number represents a different connection to the internet. so for instance with a LAN connection and a wireless connection you would have two ethernet addresses, separated by a space. VMWare gives you about 5./
• Instead of using the run command, you can simply drag the aw.dat into the awkeygen.exe to crack the file. It saves some time.
• Hold alt and drag LICENSE UTILITIES, and LICENSING to your desktop to create shortcuts to them. You'll be cracking your skull if you need to keep accessing them from the start menu
