Shred

Deletes files off a disk.
Should do this before disposing of work HDDs, or before recycling dad's old work computers.

Does not necessarily work for most modern/journaled filesystems.

shred -v /dev/sdX     # shred and display progress
shred -fuzv file.txt  # shred a file
