Karabiner

Karabiner is a free program that allows you to bind custom actions to keypresses on macos. (like xmodmap for macos).

Install

brew install karabiner-elements

Permissions

- Open karabiner-elements from spotlight:
  - Security & Privacy > follow all prompts for permissions
- Settings > Keyboards:
  - Adjust Modifiers:
    - (clear any modifier adjustments - set them within karabiner for max compatibility with irregular devices)

- Restart computer for new driver to kick in

Autostart

Settings > Users & Groups:
  - Login Items [tab]
    - Add: Karabiner-Elements (check hide!)
