Archlinux is fantastic. It's a rolling release with bleeding edge packages. It doesn't come preinstalled with anything except for the gnu core-utils which makes for a light, snappy, and versatile distrobution. Also, while the distro has a rough path carved out in terms of default init system, a and a preference for zsh, the old sysv init system, upstart and others are all available so you can create the type of distrobution that you want to actually use with only minimal guidance. Archlinux, like freeBSD, is love.
